Frequently Asked questions

Q: What Does Tea-cup means?

Tea-cup is basically a term to describe a very small dog. There is no such breed called tea-cup and no dog federation recognizes this term. Tea-cups are the smallest puppies in their breed, and their size varies between the different breeds.

Q: How big will my puppy get?

Well, there are a few indicators that can help us estimate the puppy’s full grown size. We must keep in mind we are talking about live animals and not about products. Each dog has its own characteristics and must be looked at individually. Yorkie puppies who weigh about 1.5 lb (24 OZ) at 10 weeks are likely to end up at the 3-4 lbs range. Please contact us to get the accurate weight estimate after you choose your puppy.

Q: Do you give any health guarantee?

Yes. We give a one year health guarantee for all our puppies that includes 2 weeks for viral diseases and 1 year for congenital defects. If you want to see the terms and conditions of the guarantee please email us and we will gladly send you a copy.

Q: What about vaccinations & deworming?

All puppies have their shots & deworming up to date. We will guide you with how to complete the set of shots as far as dates and type of vaccines when you are here to pick up your baby or before we send your new puppy home.

Q: How can I know the puppy is healthy?

For those who live around Reseda, you can take your puppy to the Northridge Pet Hospital for a free check-up or take it to another vet. We do require all our customers to get the puppy checked by a vet within 72 hrs from pick-up / delivery day. If for some reason the vet says there is something wrong with the puppy you can return it within the 72 hrs for a full refund. When shipping is necessary we must take the puppy to issue a health certificate before it can go on the plane. This assures the health of the puppy; however we still require you to get the puppy checked by your vet after delivery of the puppy.

Q: How does the deposit work?

If you see an available puppy you would like to have, we recommend you to take action right away. We have a lot of families that are interested in our puppies and thousands of daily visit on the site so our puppies go pretty fast. You can put a puppy on hold for 48 hours with a $250 deposit. Only in the first 48 hrs you can still change your mind and use the deposit for a different available puppy or a place on our waiting list (see how our waiting list works below). After the 48 hours the balance for the puppy needs to be made in order to keep the puppy On Hold. After a full payment has been made the puppy can stay here with us for up to 7 days for no extra charge. If more time is needed you can use our baby sitting service for only $25 / day. If you are unable to clear the balance within 48 hours, the hold will be removed from the puppy and we will offer it again to other families. You will not lose your deposit, however you will only be able to use the money towards the balance for a puppy and not as a deposit. The deposit is non-refundable.

Q: How does the waiting list work?

If you know you want to get a puppy from us and want to get one soon but looking for something that is currently not available, we suggest you join our waiting list. When joining the list we will let you know your place on that list and an estimated time for availability (for our common breeds usually 1-4 weeks). When you are first on the list you are the first to know about new puppies and get to choose first . Once you find your true love you can use your deposit to put the puppy on hold. (See above)

Q: I want a female but you have only males available now

You can leave a deposit for one. (See above) or check our website often to see when one becomes available.

Q: I live far away; do you guys ship your puppies?

To those who won’t be able to pick up the puppy in person, shipping is available. We can send the puppy to the airport near you as long as the service is available. Shipping cost is $300 in addition to the puppy’s adoption fee. This will pay for the health certificate, a traveling crate, a water dispenser, the air bill and handling charge. After your payment has been received in full we will book the flight and give you all the details for pickup. This service depends on good weather conditions. If needed, ask us about our special hand delivery.

Q: Are your puppies registered?

Yes. All of our purebred puppies are registered and come with a full pedigree certificate. The registration certificate you will get for your new baby has info such as- D.O.B, breed, color, 3 generations of registered sires and dames and more. For any other questions please feel free to email us.

Q: Where can I see the puppies?

If you live around Los Angeles and would like to visit our nursery you can call or email to set an appointment. Our business hrs are listed on the contact page. If you still have some questions or want want to know more about us and our babies feel free to contact us at any time. We will be happy to share our knowledge and do our best to help. Welcome to the Star Yorkie Family!

Q: Why Was i Denied the purchase of a Teacup?

We always like to know about the families that will be adopting our new teacup babies. We will interview in person or on the phone all of the potential adoptive families. We do (in some occasions), deny a family from owning/purchasing one of our little babies based on our intuition, feelings and interviews. It is important that the adoptive families understand that we only want the best for our teacups and we strive to give them the best loving & safe environment , that they deserve as they have had here among us, in our home.
